Phase transitions in square-lattice dimer model with anisotropic interactions
In the early 1960s, Kasteleyn [1] and Temperley and Fisher [2] discussed the statistical mechanics for covering problem of graphs by dimers. In particular, the close-packed dimer models on planar graphs were revealed to be solved by Pfaffian method, so they have been recognized to be in a exactly solvable class. While dimers have obvious relevance to diatomic molecules adsorbed on surfaces, the...
متن کاملQuantum phase transitions and thermodynamic properties in highly anisotropic magnets
The systems exhibiting quantum phase transitions (QPT) are investigated within the Ising model in the transverse field and Heisenberg model with easy-plane single-site anisotropy. Near QPT a correspondence between parameters of these models and of quantum φ 4 model is established. A scaling analysis is performed for the ground-state properties. The influence of the external longitudinal magneti...
متن کاملPhase transitions in two-dimensional anisotropic quantum magnets
We consider quantumHeisenberg ferroand antiferromagnets on the square lattice with exchange anisotropy of easy-plane or easy-axis type. The thermodynamics and the critical behaviour of the models are studied by the pure-quantum self-consistent harmonic approximation, in order to evaluate the spin and anisotropy dependence of the critical temperatures. Results for thermodynamic quantities are re...
متن کاملCasimir force phase transitions in the graphene family
The Casimir force is a universal interaction induced by electromagnetic quantum fluctuations between any types of objects. The expansion of the graphene family by adding silicene, germanene and stanene (2D allotropes of Si, Ge, and Sn), lends itself as a platform to probe Dirac-like physics in honeycomb staggered systems in such a ubiquitous interaction. We discover Casimir force phase transiti...
متن کاملBias voltage control of magnetic phase transitions in graphene nanojunctions.
The magnetic state of a spintronic device is usually controlled by magnetic contacts or a transverse electric field generated by side gates. In this work, we consider a graphene nanojunction in the presence of a bias voltage that leads to magnetic phase transitions in the system. Combining the non-equilibrium Green’s function with the Hubbard model, our self consistent calculation reveals that ...
